For some people it is difficult to communicate rationally during an argument. We agree with you that it must be addressed sooner or later and not "swept under the rug". I think, that the best thing is to speak about the problem just when it appeared. Sometimes it is maybe better to just cool down, but only if the problem is absurd. Then the time just gives you time to realise it is not important. But in bigger things it is better to speak about them in an instant. I do not agree with the first step.
